Hello There

My personal journey of exploring yoga began in 2018, when I turned to it in search of ways to manage my chronic pain. I was extremely lucky to have met Starr Sanborn, a yoga therapist and an amazing person, to guide me through many, many ups and downs. Among them were graduating Bellevue Community College with an Associate degree in Allied Health, developing carpal tunnel syndrome, and getting diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety. Throughout all of this, I started to see yoga as much more than a physical practice, but as a way of approaching life, as an adventure of self-discovery. When I teach a class, I like going back to slow, simple movements to bring awareness of how we move through our day. I also try to include guided meditations in my classes for a gentle wrap-up. Having an external focus point, like somebody’s voice, might be very helpful for people for whom other ways of meditating doesn’t seem to click. I know this from personal experience – for a long time I myself struggled with meditation (in hindsight, that makes a lot sense for a person with ADHD!).

Hope to see you in my classes, and don’t hesitate to reach out with questions through the Contact form!

Oksana.
